Mascot Z, the big green crocodile friend
Z now also on our website
We missed Z on our website for some time, which is why we want to put our mascot in the spotlight and introduce him to those who don’t know him yet!
A big egg in the largest indoor playground in the Randstad
It all started on September 16, 2016. In our jungle where we have a train track. On one faithful day, a super big egg appeared! How did that happen? Where did that egg come from? What could be inside? It seemed like KidZcity was getting a new resident!
We immediately shared this big mystery on Facebook, it was too exciting! Everyone looked at each other with questions, we listened against the egg to see if we could hear anything, we felt with our hands to see if we could feel anything moving, we hugged and kissed the egg, and we wrote on notes what we thought was inside.
The staff and the kids were so curious. We couldn’t bear the suspense, so we called in Freek Vonk. With one glance, he knew and told us that there was a baby crocodile inside. How super exciting! More life, more joy, even more fun in the indoor amusement park KidZcity!
With a new creature, there must also be a name. We thought long about THE name. There were many fun, silly, and sweet names suggested. All the kids were also brainstorming. After a lot of thinking, we found a cool name that suited a crocodile and KidZcity well; “Z” (pronounced as Zed).
Every playday at KidZcity became even more exciting, when will the egg hatch...
The first thing we did every morning when opening was to check if Z was born. Every morning was so thrilling.
On October 4, employee Daniëlle opened KidZcity, and as usual, she ran straight to the jungle to check if it had happened the night before... No, the big egg was still in the same place, in the same status as the past few weeks. “Maybe tomorrow,” she thought. Every morning, we a security round is performed, as well as a system check on all attractions to see whether they are still working properly and if there are any defects or faults. Everything was in great condition, so she could walk with the scrubbing machine to scrub the floor well for the guests who would come soon. As she walked past the family slide, she heard all sorts of strange noises. She was quite nervous because she was all alone in KidZcity, or so she thought... She followed the sound and saw cracks appearing in the egg. First 1, then 2, then another 1 and another 1, and she saw more and more green emerging. Yes, the moment has arrived! She immediately called the mayor of KidZcity, who came within 10 minutes to witness this important moment.
A big party in our indoor amusement park
On October 4, 2016, at 07:35, our Z was born. He was a whopping 168 cm long and weighed 78 kilos! Z actually weighed more than Daniëlle! She quickly dressed him in cool KidZcity clothes so that he wouldn’t be naked when the kids arrived at 10:00. And sliding down the slide with bare buttocks hurts.
We were all excited the whole day. Everyone loved it so much! Even Z was immediately happy. He’s not very good at sitting still, he is the happiest crocodile that we have ever seen! He didn’t even cry once. And that for someone who was just born!
We immediately shared this big news on Facebook with our KidZcity fans. A birth announcement and an invitation to a birth party were of course not to be missed.
On October 7, the big party took place. We celebrated his birth with all the parents and playing children. Everyone entered the indoor amusement park under a beautiful, big balloon arch, and there was (children’s) champagne for everyone. To make the birth party complete, we walked around with trays full of biscuits with blue-coloured sprinkles, yummy!
Z had the time of his life (and he was only 3 days old!). He went wild and played with the children for hours. He was hugged by all those sweet children.
Z is eager to play again with all the children in KidZcity
Our big green friend is now 4 years old, and he has developed so much! He has such a cool character, is always in a good mood, and is a real daredevil and friend to everyone. Z gives loads of high fives. He can’t get enough of them. Sometimes he even gets a sore arm from giving so many high fives. He also loves giving hugs. He’s so cuddly, he’s like a big teddy bear... uh... cuddly crocodile. If you find hugs a bit scary, that’s okay. Z can also give a fist bump.
His hobbies are playing hide and seek, but you probably already knew that from the “Find Z” activities on our Facebook. With 5,000 m2 of hiding places, he has already found many good spots in our indoor amusement park and has become a real pro. If he’s not hiding, he’s (how could it be otherwise) probably playing in KidZcity, preferably with all the happy children. His favourite attraction? The bumper cars! He comes up with all sorts of fun games like tag, conga line, or trying NOT to bump into each other. That’s really hard.
It’s always a party with Z, and he hopes to see you all again soon in the KidZ-est city in the Netherlands.
